D. Ramón Betolaza
Mr. Ramón Betolaza. Founder and Managing Partner of Black Toro Capital, a venture capital investment firm that focuses on special situations in Spain, and Vice Chairman and CEO of Trea Capital SV and Trea Asset Management SGIIC, an independent Spanish conventional and alternative asset management company with over 5,000 million euros under management. Mr. Ramón Betolaza has more than 20 years’ experience investing in special situations, and bailout and turnaround of companies in Europe, the United States and Asia. He was a founding partner of MatlinPatterson Global Advisers in New York, created in 2002 through the spin-off of Credit Suisse Distressed Securities Group, of which he had been a Director in London since 1997. He was head of the Europe desk and a member of the firm’s executive committee, which had more than $9 billion in assets under management in 2010, when he retired from the firm. Bachelor of Economics and Financial Management from Universidad Comercial de Deusto and MBA summa cum laude at IE Business School, where he is a member of the International Advisory Board and the Advisory Council of the IE Fund in the USA. He has extensive experience as a Board member at US-listed companies and unlisted companies globally.
